The Oceanside Museum of Art is North County’s home for the art of Southern California. Its changing exhibitions present painting, photography, sculpture, craft and design, with a strong focus on artists from the region.
The museum combines a historic civic building designed by architect Irving Gill with a modern exhibition pavilion, and it has announced plans for a major campus expansion. It sits in the heart of downtown Oceanside, a few blocks from the beach and pier, and is a highlight of the First Friday Art Walk.
Exhibitions change several times a year, and the museum runs an active program of artist talks, classes, docent tours and the OMA Artist Alliance, a network for local artists.
Free parking is available in the Civic Center parking structure off Ditmar Street, as street parking is limited. Utility work on Pier View Way through early January 2027 may cause overnight detours near the museum.
