56th Chicano Park Day, April 25, 2026
Chicano Park Day commemorates April 22, 1970, when Barrio Logan residents occupied the land beneath the newly built Coronado Bridge and won the creation of Chicano Park. Today the park is a National Historic Landmark, famous for the large collection of murals painted on the bridge’s concrete pillars, and Chicano Park Day is its biggest celebration of the year.
Expect live music, folklórico and Aztec dance performances, a classic lowrider car show, food, artisans and community booths, all with the murals as a backdrop. The celebration is free and family-friendly. Nearby you can visit the Chicano Park Museum and Cultural Center and the galleries of Barrio Logan, home of the monthly Barrio Art Crawl. Parking is scarce, so take the UC San Diego Blue Line trolley to the Barrio Logan station.
