How to participate at the ArtWalk Liberty Station?

Artists interested in participating in the Mission Liberty Station must undergo a detailed application and jury process. The event is open to fine artists from both the U.S. and Mexico, with current applications only being accepted for waitlist consideration. Early submissions are prioritized for booth placement, so it is advised that artists apply promptly.

The event exclusively features original fine art created by living artists, and does not accept crafts, mass-produced items, or wearable art, with the exception of fine jewelry. The jury evaluates each submission based on the quality of the artwork and the professionalism of the booth setup. A crucial part of the application is a photo of the artist’s previous booth display, which must show artwork mounted on walls using systems like Pro-panels or grid walls. Displays using easels or artwork placed on the ground are not permitted.

Participants must also meet local requirements, such as holding a California seller’s permit and liability insurance, with the City of San Diego and Art for People listed as insured parties. Artists conducting business in San Diego for six or more days per year must also obtain a San Diego City Business License.

Selected artists are expected to be present at their booths for the entirety of the 3-day event, which runs from 4 PM to 7:30 on Friday, 11 AM to 6 PM on Saturday and from 10 AM to 5 PM on Sunday. While booth spaces are provided, artists are responsible for supplying their own professional-grade white display tents, though rentals are available for an additional fee.
